Blocked fallopian tubes

Do you have blocked fallopian tubes and would like some information about increasing fertility?

Are you wondering if you have blocked fallopian tubes?

Blocked fallopian tubes occur when an obstruction prevents the mature egg from travelling down the tube and into the uterus on either one or both of the fallopian tubes inside a woman’s reproductive system. This problem can also be know as tubal factor infertility and is one of the more common problems in women who suffer from infertility.

When there is a case of blocked fallopian tubes, the egg cannot make its way down the tubes to meet the sperm which also needs to travel through the cervix and uterus in order to fertilize the egg. This problem can occur in either one or both of the fallopian tubes. It is also possible for the tube to be blocked not fully but only partially, and in this case there can be an increased risk of tubal pregnancy or ectopic pregnancy.

It is still possible to get pregnant if only one fallopian tube is blocked depending on how well the ovary on the other side is producing eggs and also what caused the block in the first place. When there is an incidence of blocked fallopian tubes on one side, and the possibility still exists of getting pregnant, it will obviously take a longer time to conceive as ovulation takes place on different sides from month to month.

What are the symptoms of blocked fallopian tubes?

Unfortunately blocked fallopian tubes rarely cause very noticeable symptoms. Only some specific types of blocked fallopian tube such as endometriosis or pelvic inflammatory disease will cause painful symptoms and they can be in the form of painful menstruation and/or painful sexual intercourse. It is important to remember however, that these symptoms may not necessarily point to blocked fallopian tubes.
