IVF success
rates
Not all
IVF success rates can be applied to
every couple wanting to go ahead with in vitro
fertilization treatment. Every couple’s circumstances are
different and depending on the specifics of each case,
can make or break the hopes of successfully conceiving.
Although statistics give a very general idea about the
chances available, they should not be adhered to by
everyone.
Factors that impact on IVF success rates
include;
Age of the woman
The best cases of IVF success
rates relate directly to the ‘age’ of the woman. Women under 35
yrs old have the best chances simply because their bodies are
more fertile then those of older women. Women between the ages
of 35 and 39 experience varied results and although women over
40 yrs of age have the lowest chance of getting pregnant, they
can increase their chances dramatically depending on their
results with the other factors that impact on IVF success
rates.
Response to Fertility
Drugs Women who respond well to fertility drugs
have a good chance of successfully conceiving using in vitro
fertilization treatment. The fertility drugs help in different
ways, the most notable and important feature of fertility drugs
is the ability to help grow and mature eggs. If the fertility
drugs work well in the woman, then the eggs that are produced
will be of high quality – as this is one of the problems with
infertile women, this greatly increases the chances for
successful fertilization.
Number of Eggs Retrieved
Statistics show that the number
of eggs retrieved from the woman will greatly increase the
chances of getting pregnant. If the number of eggs retrieved
from the woman is less than five than the chances are low (not
including the other factors that impact on IVF success rates),
with five to seven eggs – the chances of conceiving are better;
however, with seven or more eggs retrieved – this gives the
woman optimum chances of getting pregnant because all the eggs
that are retrieved will be fertilized and the ones that survive
(yes, some eggs do arrest their development) will be used to be
put back in the woman’s uterus to continue growing, hopefully
on to a healthy child.
Number of IVF Cycles
The number of times the woman
goes in for IVF treatment is proven to increase IVF success
rates. Although the woman has the same percentage of chance to
conceive as the last time, overall statistics have shown that
the overall number of attempts will increase the
odds.
Once
again the IVF success rates vary depending on the cause
of the infertility problem/s and although IVF is looked
at by couple’s as a last resort, there is another
alternative. Some women these days are looking
to the Eastern World for guidance and natural remedies
for infertility problems – most women are finding varying
degrees of success with conceiving using these “secret”
methods. If you are having problems getting pregnant then
it may be a good idea to explore all avenues before
resorting to surgical fertility treatment. Pregnancy
Miracle is one such product by Lisa Olson, a medical
researcher, nutritionist and mother of two, who battled
with infertility for over ten years until she became
pregnant. To learn more about Pregnancy Miracle
